I have a problem in Windows 7 using firewire. I connect my Canon HV20 to it but it won't show up as if it's connected. I used the same firewire slot with windows xp before and it all worked well.

I checked this post and the solution the guy is offering is same as on all forums i checked - only problem is that I cannot see the "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers" node in my device manager.

Any idea how to make this work?

Is the firewire card Windows 7 compatible? Did you install the fireware card's drivers? – techie007 Apr 20 '11 at 20:22
Do you see anything in the device manager that shows as unidentified device? If you see no issues in the device manager, then the firewire controller might have failed. If the drivers aren't installed or compatible, you'll see some sort of error in the device manager. – MaQleod Apr 20 '11 at 22:42
I have tried now connecting the same camcorder to another pc with windows 7 and to one with xp both failed to recognize so I'm suspecting maybe the cable is gone. Gonna try with new cable and we will see. – easwee Apr 25 '11 at 11:34
