I have two SATA hdds when only one is connected the data transfer speed is quite high - about 30-50 Mbyte/sec, sometimes even ~100 mb/sec, but when they both are connected, one of them starts working very slowly ~ 2-3 mb/sec Is there anything you could recommend?

What kind of motherboard are they plugged into? How many SATA ports does it have? Have you tried rotating the HDDs b/w the various SATA ports? – boehj Apr 24 '11 at 18:12
I have tried rotating - but it didn't change anything - the HDD that had begun to work slowly, still worked slowly. So the ports don't seem to be the problem. There are two SATA ports only. And so for the motherboard, it's called VIA... – Артём Пейсаховский Apr 29 '11 at 14:02
If you haven't done so already, try a different SATA cable, It sounds silly, but it worked for me just a few days ago. I couldn't believe it at first. I hope you're as lucky as I was. :) – boehj Apr 29 '11 at 14:25
