I am seeking a more powerful alternative to OSX address book which does not have to be freeware.

Important:

  • Centralized addressbook that is possible to edit by me and other at the office. Must be able to handle groups.
  • Syncing, of course

Nice if it also:

  • Has built in mail-app
  • There is an iPhone app
  • I can make own surveys/polls to selected groups in the addressbook

Have tried Address Book sync to Gmail, which does not meet my demands (unreliable, not all fields are synced).

It is also important that I can have my own contacts side by side with office contacts. And I dont want to share my address book with the whole office, therefore I am looking for another option.

Does it need to be available offline? Or could you work with a web-based solution, like Keith suggested? – Daniel Beck Apr 28 '11 at 19:13

That sounds a lot like Gmail, and Gmail contacts, to me. I use Gmail contacts as my primary contact list.

Please expand upon that answer, since the user has already tried it and found it lacking (second to last paragraph). – Daniel Beck Apr 28 '11 at 18:19
He tried sync to Gmail lacking, presumably using Mac addressbook as primary and syncing to Gmail contacts. I am saying there is no need to sync to Gmail contacts if you use Gmail contacts as your primary contacts app. – Keith Apr 28 '11 at 18:28
