What are you talking about. Who are you to say what IP is proper and what is not. What IP is it using and what IP do you want it to use? – barlop May 2 '11 at 17:18
Please elaborate. Are you using DHCP on your router? Is your wireless NIC set to pull an address automatcally, or are you trying to specify? If trying to specify, is it in the correct subnet for your router? Also if trying to specify, are you choosing an address the router has already handed out to another device? what exactly is happening that leads you to believe addressing is not working properly? – MaQleod May 2 '11 at 18:48

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. See the FAQ for guidance on how to improve it.

Wireless or wired makes no difference. In both instances, the method for obtaining an IP address is exactly the same. In the vast majority of cases, a DHCP server is used to issue an IP address. If you're unable to obtain valid IP information, then you should turn to your DHCP server and find out why it isn't providing the correct information. You can also configure the interface to use a static ip address, in which case, you simply need to change the static IP address information to the correct values.
