Good afternoon all,

I was wondering if there is anyway to reopen a closed tab when we are using Chrome's Incognito mode?

It is a very useful feature for example when a tab is closed accidentally.. I understand that the reason it is called "incognito" is because the computer does not keep track of any browsing history.

However I was thinking is there anyway to make it keep the history for a short duration after a tab is closed (e.g. 3 seconds) in case a tab is accidentally closed and the user wants to re-open it (usually we wouldn't wait more then 3 seconds to reopen an accidentally closed tab) ?

I don't think you can, or even should be able to restore closed tabs in incognito.

Think about it for a second: you're asking your browser to not follow you around and not keep local data, by switching to incognito mode, and a second later you're asking for a closed tab? Kinda beats the purpose, no?

If you must have this functionality (again, beats the purpose of incognito imho), you can use a session manager (like Session Buddy) and mark it OK to run in incognito.

ok what i need is to have 2 "browsers" which share different cookies. I don't really need incognito but incognito is the only way i've know how to do it in such a way that both my "browsers" are google-chrome. is there a solution to this? – Pacerier May 8 '11 at 6:04
Chrome has implemented a "multiple identity" feature which will come to the Developer and Beta builds soon, and I guess this is exactly what you want. – slhck May 8 '11 at 9:44

@Pacerier You can safely install the Chrome Beta because it's really very stable and I've even run the Dev build for more than a year now and have never had any problems! I don't know when, but I'd say in a few weeks? – slhck May 8 '11 at 15:29

Cookies won't be stored in Incognito mode. Therefore, your purpose of sharing/storing different cookies(you wrote so in comment to 'Traveling Tech Guy') won't work in Incognito. I guess you are looking at something like accessing different online accounts(facebook, yahoo mail) in two windows. If that is the case you can easily do it with two different browsers, say Firefox and chrome. I do the same when I have to access different accounts with same service provider. In Gmail you can directly sign in to another account in same browser.

well i need 4, and having to use safari/opera/firefox/chrome together is really much slower compared to having 4 different chrome windows. beside's most of the time the other browsers are inherently slow when compared to chrome – Pacerier May 8 '11 at 15:07

As this post on the Chrome help forum notes, Incognito mode specifically doesn't remember your history, so there's no way for it reopen what it doesn't remember.
