Since I enabled two-factor authentication on Facebook:

When an unrecognized computer or device tries to access my account:
Require me to enter a security code sent to my phone

pidgin-facebookchat (the Facebook Chat plugin for Pidgin) has stopped working. Is there a way to fix this?

I'm using Pidgin 2.7.11 and connecting to Facebook chat is now supported directly via the XMPP protocol. What you have to do is create a new account in Pidgin, set up like this:

Protocol: Facebook (XMPP)

User: your FB username (can be found on your FB profile's info tab)

Domain: chat.facebook.com

Resource: Pidgin

It should work out of the box, you can uninstall pidgin-facebookchat.

You shouldn't need any special version of pidgin to do that. Just use XMPP and set the rest as described above. As far as I can tell, all that the 'Facebook' option does in Pidgin is fill in 'chat.facebook.com' as the Domain, and use a Facebook-looking icon. – Flimzy Jun 19 '11 at 5:39
I doubt this answer will solve the two factor authentication – Jader Dias Jun 20 '11 at 13:46
did that solve the problem? – nodiscc Jul 5 '11 at 0:13
No, that was my first try even before I posted the question – Jader Dias Jul 28 '11 at 20:09
