Recently, when logging on to my home server via the console, it will immediately go into standby mode when CTRL+ALT is pressed. Occasionally it will also register the DEL key being pressed, but not until after it has resumed.

The problem has worsened to the point where I can no longer log in. The keyboard is fine as I have tried a spare. I have no hotkeys defined, nor does the keyboard have dedicated power keys.

Why would this happen and how can I make it stop? In the meantime, I have disabled the CTRL+ALT+DEL prompt.

I'd bet money it's a virus or some other malware. – Chris S May 11 '11 at 16:36
Yeah, or some very badly misconfigured macro/shortcut software. – db2 May 11 '11 at 17:44
