I'm using an Acer laptop 4937G and have found myself sometimes accidentally unmuting the machine (I have no idea which button I've clicked - in fact i think that it had something to do with the sensor at the right hand side). However I'm sure I set the computer to mute and that sometimes it is unmuting by itself!

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

This is crazy, sometimes I think that I did not press any keyboard at all but it unmutes itself?

It's really annoying, see, I've set my laptop to mute whenever i go to work so basically I don't want it to "accidentally" have sound!

EDIT

Wow and it just happened yet again, really mysterious.

Does anyone here uses Acer laptops?

I used to have this problem with my laptop. It had a rotating hardware switch that would allow me to decrease and increase the volume. Every time I brushed this switch with my arm, even if only slightly, the computer would pick it up and unmute.

If this is your problem, try what I did, putting a piece of tape over it (I never used it anyway). I tried looking for a way to disable it, but I couldn't find a way without disabling a lot of other features as well.
