Here is a bizzare situation

I have enabled wake on lan option in my BIOS

Without sending the magic packets the system is booting up if I unplug and plug the network cable from my laptop or my modem.(When AC mode is on)

This doesn't happen when I disconnect the AC mode power supply and connect it

What kind of laptop? What model network card? More information, please. – Cody Gray May 20 '11 at 6:27
Some laptops show very strange behavior when running on AC. So maybe the laptop "thinks" that it received a wake up signal when power is plugged in and network gets disconnected. – Michael K May 20 '11 at 7:14
I think it was Realtek network card don't know the version..but my problem is I have got sticky power button and I am unable to boot using wakeonlan option as I have a dynamic IP when I first switch on the modem and plug into AC Power outlet – Shan May 20 '11 at 8:18
