When I boot into Windows 7 (SP1) now, my motherboard beeps at the end of the boot animation (the 4 colored balls forming the Windows logo). It happens from both a cold and warm boot. Any ideas on how to make it stop?

Nevermind.

It wasn't the motherboard after all. It was the keyboard (a Cherry point-of-sales keyboard) that was beeping. I uninstalled the Cherry driver and re-installed the standard Microsoft keyboard driver. That seems to have fixed it.

What kind of machine is this, laptop or desktop? If it's a desktop, it might be possible to simply disconnect the beep speaker from the motherboard. – Fopedush May 21 '11 at 4:30
It's a desktop. Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H motherboard. My case doesn't have a speaker (nothing is connected to the front panel pins for the speaker). I assume it has an onboard (piezoelectric?) speaker that is producing the sounds. – Tim May 21 '11 at 5:04

Actually, yes, there were System Event logs, but they didn't show up until I switched from using my PS/2 to USB adapter for the keyboard (which had been working fine for months, and without beeps) to straight PS/2. I got "The driver \Driver\Ch64PS2 failed to load for the device ACPI\PNP0303\3&18d45aa6&0." and the keyboard failed to work at all until I uninstalled the Cherry driver and reinstalled the Microsoft one (thank heavens for the on screen keyboard). It now works without any beeps. – Tim May 22 '11 at 1:52
