I am looking for a barcode reader software for Windows. It should be able to capture a screenshot and decode the barcode. I mainly find barcode creators for windows and if I find a reader it's most likely for Android / mobile devices.

I already tried ByteScout Barcode Reader but it crashes when taking a screenshot.

Any suggestions?

Any specific barcode format? – grawity May 25 '11 at 19:57
Good question, would say no, the normal stuff, no QR codes or so. – stefan.at.wpf May 25 '11 at 20:09
You are implying that EAN and/or UPC are somehow more "normal" than the rest. Anyway, try onbarcode.com/scanner/ean13.html - not posting as an answer because I don't actually know if it works (I cannot install the required .NET version right now). – grawity May 25 '11 at 20:19
thanks, unfortunately doesn't work with the clipboard / take screenshots directly, only saved image files. anyways, I meanwhile solved my problem in a different way. – stefan.at.wpf May 25 '11 at 22:01
