I have heard that one can transfer files over proxy. I dont know how this is done or even if it can be done. I would like to know more.

The question is terribly ambiguous. What is the reason you want to use a proxy? Are you asking about a specific file transfer method? (HTTP, BitTorrent, FTP...) Most of them can be proxied in some way or other, but there are too many possible meanings for "transfer files" and "proxy" to give a definite answer. – grawity May 27 '11 at 13:58
