At my work we use iChat for instant messaging. It works fine, except that many people show up as available all the time. So we end up sending messages to one another that are never received. What's worse, iChat gives no sign that the message was not received on the other end.

  • Some users appear as available for video (or audio) chat when they are actually there. When they are not actually there they appear as available, but unavailable for video or audio chat.
  • On the other hand, some users appear to behave correctly. That is, they respond when I send them messages and they only appear available when they actually are.
  • Quitting Mail and iCal have no effect on a person's available status.

Anybody ever run into this? Anybody have any ideas on what may be separating the accounts that are working from the ones that aren't?
