I have a mini DV handycam. I have to import video from DV to laptop. I normally use ieee 1394 or iLink cable for import. Please suggest me best software for importing video from mini DV to laptop. It should have following features.

  1. It should have different import format options like MPEG1, MPEG2, AVI,MP4 etc.
  2. It should have very good Deinterlace ability, so that imported video should not have any interlace effect (flickering effect).
  3. It should have fast importing. Normally software takes double time to import video for example 60 minutes video takes 120 minutes (60 minutes playing time + 60 minutes conversion time into desired format).

If software has editing and DVD burning features that will be a added advantage. If you know any software for above said features please tell me.

Is this Windows, OS X, Linux? – boehj May 30 '11 at 22:48
@boehj: It is WINDOWS 7. – Martin May 30 '11 at 22:48
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 is a good, expensive place to look. – boehj May 30 '11 at 22:53
@boehj: Have you use it yourself ? – Martin May 30 '11 at 22:59
No I haven't. A friend and his partner are part-time filmmakers. They've said good things about this software but I believe they prefer to use Final Cut (on OS X). – boehj May 30 '11 at 23:09
