My PC runs on win 7 (quad core) with virtual box win xp pro as guest in virtual machine. The right ctrl button to release the mouse and keyboard from VM control does not work after I enabled the cd drive and usb ports. How can I make it work again?

I know this is not direct answer, but I suggest to install Guest Additions (Devices→Install Guest Additions from VM window), so you can use mouse integration along with other features like Direct3D support, shared folders, direct copy/paste, seamless mode etc.

I can't seem to find where these guest additions are. I remember using the devices button a couple of days ago, but now I can't find it either in virtual box or when I am in Win XP. – user83823 Jun 1 '11 at 1:11
That's just the problem. Once I am in Win XP I can't use the mouse to access the Devices Menu. The mouse is not released by Win XP. – user83823 Jun 1 '11 at 16:07
Use Devices Menu before accessing to guest and get into Win XP after that and follow installation steps. – Grzegorz Szpetkowski Jun 1 '11 at 17:01
There is no devices pull-down menu before you get into win xp. – user83823 Jun 2 '11 at 0:00
