My bad! I accidently restore an important folder with Unlocker today.

I can see it in Recycle Bin but I can't restore it. It reports

Error Copying File or Folder: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

That folder is very important. It contains some Virtual machine I'm studying. I can't lose it. Any help will be appreciated very very much.

I'm using Windows XP SP3.

Can you use a Linux Live CD and access the Recycle Bin that way? – slhck Jun 4 '11 at 12:36
I'm using Windows and doesn't install Linux. :( – Emerald214 Jun 4 '11 at 13:05

No I mean, for example Puppy Linux. Burn it to a CD and pop it in the drive. You can run Linux, access your hard disk and copy the file from the recycle bin somewhere else. Before you do that, have you tried rebooting or uninstalling unlocker? – slhck Jun 4 '11 at 14:04
Too late, after some actions, I lost my data in recycle bin. :( I am going to recover it using Hirren Boot CD. Thank you. – Emerald214 Jun 4 '11 at 14:36

Just restore from your regular backups. You seem to be going to a lot of effort to get this data back without using a backup. Just use the backup, that's why you made them, right?

The user did not mention a backup, therefore this would be better suited as a comment. – Daniel Beck Jun 4 '11 at 12:45

I personally love the sarcastic answer, and it is an answer regardless. – KCotreau Jun 4 '11 at 14:20

It does not answer the question and includes facts not in the original post. Non factual sarcasm is not an answer and should be a comment, which would be upvoted. – Moab Jun 4 '11 at 14:58
The answer to any question about data loss is to restore from your backups. – ta.speot.is Jun 5 '11 at 4:07
