I'm wondering if the diagram below would allow the general public to connect to the wireless access point attached to "swith2" and have full access to the internet but not to the set of PC's/devices attached to "switch1", and would all the users on "switch1" have access to the internet also. Please note each switch is attached to a different port on the router modem.

ModemRouter -> Switch1 -> Wireless A/P
          |
          `-> Switch2 -> Private PC/Devices

Otherwise would having 2 routers in place of the switches, and the ModemRouter just a modem, work better?

The answer depends on the capabilities of the Modem/Router (e.g. assigning different Ethernet ports to different VLANs) - what is the make and model? – RedGrittyBrick Jun 6 '11 at 9:25
