For some reason, Time Machine is gone from my Mac running Snow Leopard. I have no idea what happened. I also have a WD My Book; it was verified as working properly.

Time Machine is in the applications folder, but when I click on it, no information is shown except that it is delayed in backing up. No icon in dock for Time Machine, either. Cannot be verified by Mac.

How can I get it back without reinstalling the Snow Leopard?

I was a Windows user before Mac, and could just reinstall what I needed.

Open System Preferences. Is there a Time Machine preference pane? What happens when you click it? – Daniel Beck Jun 7 '11 at 4:26
