Apart from MS Visio and smartdraw, which are other UML diagrams software that could be consider as an alternative to both mentioned?
It doesn't matter whether it is freeware or paid

I've been using Violet UML which is simply a .jar file to generate rather simple UML diagrams. You should give it a try. | |||

We use Rational Rose, heavyweight, not cheap in price or learning curve. Suitable for enterprise use. I would have suggested Kivio, but seems not ready for prime time. | |||
