I have the following current set up:

  • HD Television with one HDMI input.
  • Blu-Ray player with internet connectivity.
  • Sky HD box with internet connectivity

Wireless router

The wireless router has 1 ethernet port connected to the powerline adaptors which is currently in use serving the blu-ray player.

I need to be able to switch between the two devices in order to take full advantage of the internet based applications without swapping ethernet/hdmi cables every time I want to use either player.

Would the following work?

  • TV with HDMI switch to serve the two devices (player and receiver).
  • Powerline adaptors as currently set up but with an ethernet splitter at the other end to connect both players as listed above.

Ideally as I already have one pair of powerline adaptors I don't really want to spend money on buying Sky's wireless adaptor £60, nor do I want to run a long ethernet from the router to one of the players.

As the two devices won't be in use at the same time accessing the internet based services, I don't see any issue with having the splitter - unless my understanding of what the splitter does it mistaken.
