I am trying to scan from my HP 4280 Printer into Open Office.
Would appreciate any help.

Do you mean you want to scan in an image and put it into an open office document, or that you would like OCR (Optical character recognition) so you get an editable/searchable document and have that saved as an open office document? – Danny Staple Jun 12 '11 at 15:42
Hi, it is strange. These scanning softwares often create the DOC output and then sometimes initiate the associated program to open it (Abbyy Fine Reader OCR does it this way). In my case, when I choose the OCR option in HP Director/Scan document, it only saves the DOC output (I have no MS Office installed) so I can later open it in LibreOffice. – Juhele Jun 12 '11 at 18:16
