I'm probably doing something stupidly wrong here, but this problem has been bugging me for a while. In MS Access (required for school, definitely not by choice) I have a table Products with a number field ProdID. This field has the format "PR"000 and is linked to a form. In the form the user can create new records in Orders, choosing the ProdID they want (ProdID in Products has a one-to-many relationship with ProdID in Orders). Whether I leave the format property of the ProdID field blank or set to "PR"000, whenever the user selects a ProdID they get The value you entered isn't valid for this field. I'm guessing this is some basic problem, but as I said for the life of me I can't figure out what's causing it.

Any help gratefully appreciated

Little workaround for anyone with the same problem: edit the query for the row source for the combobox, and add a "+0" to the end of the field that's causing the problem. This has the effect of formatting it in a way Access seems to like. – hrickards Jun 15 '11 at 14:22
