we are trying to mount a UFS hard disk and there seem to be problems; neither ubuntu 11.04 nor snow leopard (10.6, 64bit kernel) are able to mount. booting with a 32bit kernel it seems to work, but there are errors (?) with disk utility (64bit) we get the following log messages --- any ideas how to mount this or get the data off? is there any other tool except "UFS explorer" that can access UFS volumes?

thanks a lot for any pointers!

I thought UFS was a generic term for "Unix File System" and no two Unixes necessarily had the same "UFS". Where was this UFS created? It seems to me that Mac OS X hasn't let you create UFS volumes in several years. – Spiff Jun 17 '11 at 22:19
the UFS volume was created some years ago with mac os, i believe it was 10.4 or 10.3 at that time. – nano Jun 17 '11 at 22:41
Have you tried mounting it in a proper *BSD? – Kirk Jun 18 '11 at 0:01
i only have access to macintosh computers right now. so i tried with ubuntu live cd. if there is any tool or way, please let me know! – nano Jun 18 '11 at 8:42
Your question needs to tell people how you are attempting to mount the volume with Ubuntu. Include all of the options that you are giving to the relevant mount command, as well as the appropriate rows in fstab. – JdeBP Jun 18 '11 at 11:38
