I have an internal and an external wireless adapter in my laptop, and I use a batch script to switch on and off the internal wireless adapter when I am at home and the laptop is connected to an external USB adapter.

Till last week, everything worked perfecetly. I used a batch file to disable and enable the wireless adapter using devcon.

Here is the command I used to enable the adapter:

devcon enable "PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002E"

and here is one I used to disable it:

devcon disable "PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002E"

My problem started a few days ago. I think it might be connected to some recent Windows 7 updates. What have worked before for a long time; is now broken. Now, if I disable the internal adapter using devcon, Windows 7 disables the wireless functionality of the whole system. If I disable it using the Fn keys, it works as it should.

I don't know how does it happen or where is this Wireless switch in Windows 7, but it gets disabled when I disable one of the wireless adapters. So it means that I cannot connect to any network, even with the USB adapter plugged in.

If I run the built-in wireless troubleshooter, it finds the error and re-enables the wireless functionality. Thus, after the troubleshooter, everything works perfectly, just like how it worked till last week.

Can someone tell me what could have happened with Windows 7 last week, and that how can I restore this functionality to the original state, like it was a week ago? With original state I mean, I am looking for some registry key or other tweak for enabling or disabling this "switch off wireless functionality when one wireless adapter is disabled".
