Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I already looked at numerous threads about this subject, but none mentions specifically what I'm interested in and I do not feel like installing all alternatives in order to find the one that suits me. Background: I've been using SyncBack to keep my files synced across computers and a central storage location. It offers everything I need, and much more, but it's a bit clunky and the online storage referred to is a server at work that is not too reliable.

What I am after is a dropbox-like system but with these extra features:

  • sync any directory
  • allow to select subdirectories to exclude
  • allow to set file patterns/wildcards to exclude

So far I looked at Live Mesh, SugarSync, Wuala but none of these seem to do everything. Any suggestions?

-1 I do not feel like installing all alternatives in order to find the one that suits me. How about checking feature lists? –  Daniel Beck Jun 21 '11 at 9:14
I did check feature lists but found none satisfying. And even if I would find tens of them satisfying, I could still come here and ask which one SU users seem to like best, no? –  stijn Jun 21 '11 at 9:44
In that case you'd be asking for subjective opinion. –  Daniel Beck Jun 21 '11 at 10:05
