My friend dragged QuickTime 7.6.9 from his applications folder into the trash and emptied it, hoping to uninstall and downgrade versions. Unfortunately the lower version installations still wouldn't install, saying a new version was available.
He tried the 7.6.9 installer which seemed to run fine, and claimed to have installed QuickTime successfully, but the application never comes back. I'm guessing it fails because there's still remnants of the previous installation.
We've tried various utilities but they all want the application dragged over them to do a complete uninstall. We don't have access to a Snow Leopard disk to do any kind of system restore.
What's the best way to uninstall - or successfully install - QuickTime 7.6.9?
/Library/Receiptsif there's something left from the previous installation. If so, temporarily move away from there and try to install again. – slhck Jun 26 '11 at 12:55
