I will build a community like website and I need your suggestions. What I am looking for is a light, fast CMS, that will allow me to do these :

  • register/login

  • two or more user roles (I will need a simple user and a seller as roles, but I need to determine if_is_a_buyer and if_is_a_user

  • profile page for each registered user with editable content

  • ability to submit small posts to the community and edit them afterwards.

  • commenting system

I know that Wordpress is one of them, but is it fast enough? Thank you

I do not think this belongs here but I just asked a similar question on stackoverflow – qroberts Jun 27 '11 at 19:31
It's pretty difficult to say whether a particular app fits a particular feature wishlist because there's always more to a spec than the headline list. A question that asked about Wordpress speed has just been closed - was that you too? – Linker3000 Jun 27 '11 at 19:39

Questions on Super User are expected to generally relate to computer software or computer hardware, within the scope defined in the faq.

Wordpress is plenty fast. It runs half the blogs on the web. But, it is blogging software. There are plugins to amend it towards a more cms-based system. Check out drupal and joomla as two open source alternatives.
