I'm looking for a site that i can upload files to. It must meet these requirements:

  • can hold 50MB files
  • little to no ads
  • doesn't require signup (if possible, it isnt required)
  • is free

Does anyone know of one like this? i use Windows Live Skydrive currently but some people have reported problems with accessing the files on it.

Added another site, pretty interesting stuff. – WebDevHobo Jul 22 '10 at 18:39
@ChrisF, random: oh geez. Where in the world should i ask this if it's off topic? – RCIX Jul 23 '10 at 0:17
there's this debate going on, over at the Meta.stackoverflow site. What it boils down to is that all questions asking for lists are now forbidden. – WebDevHobo Aug 24 '10 at 14:36
@WebDevHobo: really? that's sad. I was hoping the nazis wouldn't win :( – RCIX Aug 25 '10 at 21:34

Questions on Super User are expected to generally relate to computer software or computer hardware, within the scope defined in the faq.

mediafire 100MB per file for free user, unlimited files. Registered(free) user gets overview.

EDIT: an other site I recently ran in to was Omploader. While mostly used for images, you can upload anything to the site. From their FAQ:

There is a 1 GiB file size restriction, and there are no restrictions on content. However, we retain the right to delete whatever the crap we feel like if we find it offensive, irritating, lame, wasteful, or whatever.

There is no account-system though. Then again: free 1GB uploads. And all downloads are hotlinked. No going to the site and entering a catchpa and then waiting 60 seconds.

SkyDrive from Microsoft:

skydrive.live.com

You get 25GB of space and easily linkable. I think there is some folder integration as well with windows even although I haven't used it. It has many cool features such as:

  • If you want someone to get updates when ever you add/change files you can tell them to subscribe to an RSS feed.
  • You can make custom directory structures and have security on them
  • Download entire contents of directories all at once.

Here is a link to much more information and a tour:

Edit: I am really suprised at how many people don't know about this service from Microsoft especially since hotmail is so well known. It's an amazing service that is free and I haven't been able to find any other free services that have compareable features and space.

I do wish i could use it though... – RCIX Aug 27 '09 at 0:16
I have never had an issue with accessing files and have used it to host images and documents that are linked on the web. – Kelsey Aug 27 '09 at 0:26

FileDropper, 5GB file size limit. DropBox is also great although it requires a (quick) signup.

I can only recommend 2 services, because of their download speed as free user:

netload.in and megaupload.com

Or if you only need a 24h temporary storage s4ve.as
