I have a Dell ST2220T touchscreen. Having just got Android x86 running under VirtualBox in Windows 7, I would naturally like to configure it such that I can control the virtual machine with the multitouch HID features of the screen. My main use for this would be to test applications under development, so in a sense it might make more sense to use the emulator from the Android SDK, although I found performance of that to be inadequate last time I tried. I have a new desktop now, so performance there might be ok, but I find it hard to believe on the basis of prior experience...

I understand that there are touch drivers in Android x86, although I've not found reference to my specific device being supported. I'm not sure if it would be more appropriate for the VM to have direct access to the USB device itself, or have guest integration that was able to translate events from the a host touch API. I imagine the latter would be better as it would seem to avoid calibration issues as the VM window is moved.

I would welcome any information on how to get this working, under any combination of Windows / Linux & VM / emulator.
