• Motherboard: M4A88TD-V evo/USB3
  • AMD Athlon II processor
  • 2x4g Corsair Vengence
  • Corsair TX650W power supply
  • R5770 Hawk video card

As far as I can tell everything is hooked up right but I'm getting no display and a single beep when I boot. Manual says one beep means VGA detected, quickboot set to disabled, no keyboard. Mouse lights up but the keyboard doesn't but when I unplug its USB and plug it back in, it lights up. I'm not sure what is wrong. All the fans work the 2 case fans, 2 on videocard, and the processor. The led on the motherboard is a solid green no blinks or anything. It runs and stays on, to turn it off i hold the power button and that works fine

PS: first time ever building a computer, I've never set up a BIOS or anything or even installed an OS. I'm going off of instructions for everything.

Is it a cordless keyboard? If so, does it have good batteries? If not, have your tried plugging it into a different USB port? – Synetech Jul 2 '11 at 3:43
Its wired and yes ive tried different ports – Matt delengowski Jul 2 '11 at 5:12
Check page 20 of your motherboard’s manual to find out how to clear the CMOS (there’s a jumper at the edge) or what key to hold during POST to reset the BIOS settings to the default (can’t find one???) Also, since you did not configure the BIOS, try plugging your monitor into the onboard video adapter; chances are that the board is defaulting to that—you’ll have to set it to use your add-on card as the primary display (page 27: Internal Graphics Configuration). – Synetech Jul 2 '11 at 5:36
Ok tried new keyboard this time its actual port it lights up everything on start up still getting no display though – Matt delengowski Jul 2 '11 at 5:36
Yup, plug your monitor into the onboard video, then set your BIOS to use your video card as the primary display. – Synetech Jul 2 '11 at 5:39

So no one else has any ideas on what to do? – Matt delengowski Jul 3 '11 at 1:04
What happens now? Does it give a single short beep? What happens to the keyboard? Press the NumLock key a few (~7) times; does the light go on and off every time or does it get stuck? Do the same with the CapsLock key. Try holding down five or more letters on the keyboard at the same time; what do you hear from the internal speaker? – Synetech Jul 3 '11 at 2:45

You may also want to check to ensure that you attached all the necessary power plugs to your motherboard.

I had a similar issue when building my first computer. I had attached the large 24-pin to my motherboard, but missed the fact that it also needed a smaller 6-pin connector. Without this 6-pin connector, the computer would turn out and POST, but the video card wouldn't show anything on my screen.

Heres a question does my ram even work for my motherboard? Because now im getting 2 beeps and when i look at the numbers on back of ram cmz8gx3m2a1600c9 I dont find that in my manuel – Matt delengowski Jul 2 '11 at 14:58
That motherboard takes DDR3 RAM. The memory you have should work. If it fits in, then you have the right memory (DDR3 has a different slot than DDR2). – Dan Walker Jul 2 '11 at 16:45
