Something happened recently with my laptop (I don't know what, I can't recall anything I did that can cause something like this) and now I'm unable to type ampersand (&). And not just in a particular application it looks like a system wide problem.

The key works on it's own (c) and AltGr works with other keys too. The combination doesn't seem like a shortcut, it doesn't do anything. What can possibly cause this? (I'm using Windows XP SP3)

EDIT: the keyboard is Hungarian, Windows seems to use it like a Hungarian keyboard and I can type everything except the ampersand.

What language keyboard do you have? It could be that Windows has switched language on you. – ChrisF Jul 4 '11 at 11:07
You can change the language setting pressing Left ALT+SHIFT – cularis Jul 4 '11 at 11:12
@ChrisF Hungarian. I can still type Hungarian specific letters, and actually everything except the ampersand. (And Windows says it didn't change the keyboard language.) – ytg Jul 4 '11 at 11:12
It would be worth editing that into the question. – ChrisF Jul 4 '11 at 11:13
