Is there a trick/plugin/script to achieve the following in Gmail?

While I am writing an email, I see that I have received one or more new emails. They might be connected to what I am writing about, so I want to read them. Then, I have to save my new email as a draft, read the just-received emails, and go back to my draft to keep on writing.

Can this process be optimized so that I don't have to switch to the inbox and back to drafts?

There's an icon in the right upper corner of the compose new mail window. Click it and you can write the new mail a new window.

Open the inbox in a new tab/window. Thats what I usually do when composing an email and a new one comes in

You can always switch to a new window while composing a new mail (there is a little icon in the top right corner while composing a new mail). If you do that, then you can read mails from inbox at the same time.
