Firefox has the ability open a link in a new tab and other similar functions. However, my middle click isn't working in Firefox. It works fine in other programs.

I have a Razer Diamondback, with up-to-date drivers.

Do you have any addons installed that may be intercepting it? – Daniel DiPaolo Jul 6 '11 at 18:42

I occasionally have a similar problem with my MS mouse. Can you verify in your mouse software that the middle click button is mapped to the right action? For my mouse, I need to map that button to Auto-Scroll otherwise middle click functionality in Firefox does not work.

Try the suggestions in this Mozilla article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mouse_Tips#Middle_Click

It is on "Universal scrolling". This should also be a middle click. But even if I map keyboard keys (like "A") to it, it doesn't work in FF. – Simon Verbeke Jul 6 '11 at 18:56

I just reinstalled my drivers (the exact same version) and it is working again.
