Very frustrating issue with Windows 7 and two separate USB Wireless N adapters, neither of which work.

I have a Belkin N Wireless USB Adapter (1011uk) and also a TP-LINK TL-WN821N. I've tried each of these with their respective drivers / installers but each ends up with the error: "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter" with no further explanation apart from "Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter."

Everything works fine through Ethernet LAN connection, but the system just won't recognise the USB wireless N adapters.

It seems overkill to come on here, but I've tried everything I can think of now. Any pointers?

Running a factory-spec DELL XPS 600.
