Not sure what's normal load time for encrypted boot. The drive has three partitions. The first is Windows, the second is /boot, and the last is LVG (/ and /swap). This is on my Thinkpad IBM r40 1.3GHz with 768MB RAM.

The load time from steps 1-3 (see below) is 2+ minutes:

  1. Enter first passphrase, wait.
  2. 0:17s Fedora "progress bubble" disappears, and is replaced by black screen with a gradation graphic at the top of the screen--seems out of place.
  3. 2:06 Graphic goes away and command line prompt appears for entering user name and password

1.3Mhz? You are master of underclocking? ;D – Doc Jul 12 '11 at 20:37
@TheWhitePhoenix - I started to say "You realize the R40 is like 8 years old, right?" but then I was like "OH." – Shinrai Jul 12 '11 at 21:10
@Shinrai I updated the question, hope ya are down with that..? – Doc Jul 12 '11 at 23:06
Yes, 1.3 Hz on your radio dial (>_<) – xtian Jul 12 '11 at 23:16
@slhck&sathya: I protest! This is not an open ended question. 1) There is a relative (+/- seconds) normal time depending on the processor and the RAM. 2) My laptop is not some 1990s Compaq with 128MB of RAM--it's only 5 years old (2006). 3) Here is another related question at Fedora Forum which resulted in a link to a bug report. 4) Today I cut my boot time in half! My swap partition's encryption prompt is not being displayed. Its now down to 59s. Bad call. – xtian Jul 14 '11 at 21:55
