Free Options:

  • Meld — available via Fink, haven't tried it yet but is actively developed.
  • KDiff3 — works well for me, very functional for its price!
  • Diffmerge — bit clunky UI, but certainly very useful for the price!
  • Synkron - only does folder syncing.

Paid:

  • DeltaWalker — very nice from my trial.
  • Araxis Merge — also good, I slightly prefered Deltawalker when demoing both, and Araxis is very expensive.
  • Changes — Nice UI (most Mac-like), but file diff algorithm a bit weak compared to others. Integrates with textmate and my dCVS, Bazaar.
  • ECMerge — I have no experience with this, but it seems to offer a feature set consistent with the other commercial apps.

What's wrong with FileMerge? /Developer/Applications/Utilities/FileMerge

Does Filemerge offer full directory comparison, as well as within-line and 3-way diff that the software the original posters asked about? – The Tentacle Aug 28 at 16:25

Apparently FileMerge can do directory comparison: macworld.com/article/49584/2006/03/cmpfldr.html The original poster wasn't specific as to what features of Beyond Compare he needed/wanted, e.g. he didn't actually state whether he needs/wants three-way diff/merge. – las3rjock Aug 28 at 17:21
