I have a netbook with windows 7. I've been trying to watch rtsp videos for which I have the url.

VLC and SMPlayer both have issues about jumping forward (they simply get stuck). Quicktime won't open the url at all.

Can you think of how to solve this? Would it be solved by downloading specific codecs? Is there some way to download rtsp files and converting them to avi or mov or some other file extension that can be read on any standard video playing software?
