Possible Duplicate:
What is the best way to dispose of non-working computer equipment?

I've got several boxes of hard drives, CD/DVD drives and expansion cards which I've collected over the last 8 years or so. I'd like to dispose of them. Can I just trash them, or is there a recommended way to recycle them?

Don't trash them, this is my Earth just as much as it's yours. Recycle them properly please. I think it's quite apparent that just throwing them out isn't going to solve anything. – Breakthrough Jul 19 '11 at 19:44

Too localized because it solely depends on what your city, county, etc. has to offer in terms of recycling facilities. Check with them to make sure you recycle properly. – slhck Jul 19 '11 at 19:55

You live in NYC. There are about a billion places to dispose of them. Artists may want them as "found objects". There are recycling centers. There are classrooms and colleges and local fixit shops.

Throw something up on craigslist.

Put them with a sign on the box that invites people to take one or the whole thing. Sell them at a local crafts fair / flea market.
