I am quite interested in buying a data logger which can connect via USB to PC and record temperate/sound/......etc

I want to use Python against the data gathered and play with it.

Has anyone got any ideas where I could get data loggers cheap or could i make one?

I know about http://picotech.com and http://www.drdaq.com, anything cheaper than them to do some science experiments?
