I need to create a pivot table to summerize the sum total of sales for each customer ID for each month. My field names are: CUSTOMER_ID, NAME, ship date, total dollar amount shipped

my problem is that when I try to group the date field, the option is invisible. please advise the steps to create the pivot table to my requirements thank you very much

If your date field is not in a format Excel recognizes as a date then it will be treated as text and can not be grouped as dates. Check your date format. – Mike Fitzpatrick Jul 22 '11 at 22:55
