I have a Dell XPS 17, which has both an onboard Intel GPU and an nVidia GT 555M installed. When using the laptop normally, it uses the Intel GPU. When running games, it switches to the 555M. The problem is, while any game runs (and I have had this happen both while playing Brink as well as Amnesia), the display will periodically flicker, displaying the desktop for a moment before returning to the game.

What I would like to do is disable the onboard graphics to some extent. Ideally, it would be disabled whenever the laptop is plugged in and in single-monitor mode. In dual-monitor mode, I would like the onboard graphics re-enabled. Failing that, I would be fine with having onboard graphics disabled outright. Doing so from the Device Manager only causes the display to shut off.
