I want to participate in a very active discussion group. Reading and following in the online view of the forum is difficult, because there are sometimes many new posts per hour and if I want to write answers to different people, it is difficult to keep track of "who wrote what when?"...
The forum seems to be based on phpbb.
Does a standalone application (for MacOS X and Windows) exist, which can make reading and posting to such a forum easier?
What it should be able to do:
- read RSS feeds of selected topics and display unread posts.
- mark posts as read by hand
- answer posts by citing parts of the text
- compact view of the lasts posts
If there is no such application, are there text editors which can
- help to write the markup used in such a forum (despite those already included in the website itself)?
- maybe even receive the messages of the posts as RSS feeds and display them in a formatted way?
