If it's a text file, can you do it? Maybe after using a HexEdit to edit out a few digits on the header or footer?

What if it's any other type of file?

You didn't specify which OS. But your past posts have been Windows 7, so I'll assume. Windows 7 will rollback the changes if you cancel the file transfer, unless you pull the plug on Explorer.

Sometimes yes. Usually, NTFS will get to work rolling back the changes. – surfasb Jul 29 '11 at 23:27
