My desktop computer is down at the moment.

So I am on my laptop and have taken a picture of my CPU fan and want to post it on the Internet somewhere where I can reference it in a Stackoverflow question. However I don't have my FTP passwords at the moment for my own website.

What is the easiest way to post a .jpg somewhere where I can reference it in a Stackoverflow question? e.g. without creating an account somewhere or receiving confirmation e-mails etc.

Questions on Super User are expected to generally relate to computer software or computer hardware, within the scope defined in the faq.

ImageShack works pretty well. Don't need to supply any data but the image file.

ImageShack has always sufficed for me.

I would use tinypic, imgur or bayimg; they are all free image hosting sites that don't require any kind of registration and allow direct image linking (although tinypic is notorious for removing images with too much traffic).

http://drop.io is great for quickly sharing any kind of media. No account setup needed, and it provides more features than you could ever need (even a phone number to record a mp3). Good for collaborating too.

Up to 100 MB per file "drop" (referenceable URL). – Peter Mortensen Jul 17 '09 at 18:14

I'm actually a big fan of DropBox even though it does require creating an account. I highly recommend it for its uses for online backups and file hosting as well.

Does need registration though, which OP does not want. – Rytis Jul 15 '09 at 18:59

I've used PicturePush before - though I like having an album of my images for reference later, which it (obviously) does not provide.

You can also try with Google's Picasa Web Albums

It does require account and install extra software on machine. But Gmail and Picasa are wort of it
