have no experience with Final cut, but there are some programs, you could try.

Check the features here. It is similar to Pinnacle Studio (which is commercial). It is easy to use and intuitive. Some time ago, the users complained about poor stability, but my friend uses it (on Linux laptop) and had no problems, so it was probably solved.
Or you can try Lightworks Beta - professional product, now released as opensource, which looks very promising. Currently it is only available for Windows. Linux version should come later.
