Lately my PC has got this strange problem. Every once in a while, the motherboard (or hard drive?) makes a really strange noise (more like a beep) and the PC freezes, sometimes for seconds, sometimes freezes for good.

Looking in the Windows 7 event log, I always find this entry, at the EXACT time of the freeze:

Event 129 nvstor "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort1 was issued"

It happened 3 months ago, and then the hard drive suddenly died. I've replaced the hard drive but now (barely 3 months later) the problem happened again. I refuse to think that it's a hard drive problem, with just 3 months lifetime.

My rig:

  • Windows7 Home 32bit
  • Motherboard: Asus M2N68-AM Plus
  • RAM: 4GB DDR2
  • HD: Seagate 500GB (more info soon)

Edit: Obviously I don't even know what a RAID is :D
