Alright, my ISP (Qwest) is dropping approximately 30-40% of my packets between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. I live in Billings, Mt., which I realize is not exactly a busting hub of internet connectivity. However, I do not think that this amount of packet loss acceptable (in fact, it makes me want to line up the Qwest executives and gut them). What I am wondering is: is there another service (such as Bresnan) that can guarantee better service, or is this just the limits of my location? It's not like I get particularly fast internet as it is (my average ping to Google is 150-300) but this seems to me to be so outrageous, I feel as if I should probably switch. I just am not sure if I can get better service from another company. Can I?

It is a question as to how much packet loss is acceptable/normal. That is a perfectly valid question. – soandos Aug 11 '11 at 1:42
