Is there any freeware pdf manager - explorer - anything to do the job. Help is needed urgently.

Indeed, the title does not say it all. What are you actually trying to do? Do the PDFs have metadata? – frabjous Aug 14 '11 at 13:46
@MAA: Welcome to Super User! Your title says exactly, well, nothing besides "renaming PDFs". Images? Text? Quotes? Lyrics? Forms? What should the names look like? How should the names be chosen based on the content? Really, it's hard to tell what your asking here if you don't provide us with context, details and examples. For Windows: a software called "pdfsam" has helped me alot when I needed to manage/merge/edit a lot of pdf's (not sure about hundreds though). May be it will help you.

Also a good idea is to look at http://alternativeto.net/ to find useful software.

pardon me.. first time using this site. OS is Win 7. Document title & writer's name is on the first page of the pdf files, at least the ones I'm handling. I am compiling a couple of thousand pdf ebooks from jpg source. Anyways, I did find what the features I failed to explain here in a program called xyplorer. Thanks – MAA Aug 15 '11 at 0:25
