I've installed Arch Linux, and I'm attempting to get TightVNC working.

I've installed TightVNC 1.3.10-5 from the official Arch Linux repositories.

I've set ~/.vnc/xstartup to start a KDE 4.7 session.

However, when I connect to this session, the quality is appalling bad and has nasty artifacts. I've set the connection profile to High-speed network, and I've even disabled JPEG compression (it's a LAN), and it's still very bad. I've also tried changing encoding in the viewer from Hextile to RAW, still looks the same.
