first of all, if I check Post FX, I don't see any donut at all: http://picturepush.com/public/6356420

This is what I get when I disable Post FX, and even then it's all jittery, meaning go smooth for a few frames and then jerk... and then again, go smooth for a few frames and jerk again.

can anybody shed some light on this?

I keep reading to look for artifacts, but I am not entirely sure I know what that means.

Uh, that in the middle with Post FX on IS the donut. Post FX just adds that blur. Can't you tell the similarity between the screenshots?! Also, you can hit F1 while it's going to show the help, and that'll show you how to toggle that on the fly. The jerkiness is because your framerate is slow, can't you see the framerate listed there? FWIW I think the framerate is about right for this card, a touch low maybe. "Artifacts" meaning something that looks weird - graphics that are distorted or corrupt.
